Being a mother to five daughters sounds like quite possibly the toughest job on the planet, but Noor Al Tamimi not only makes it look easy – she does it in heels. “It’s not easy wearing heels with kids,” the 36-year-old laughs. “But I persisted and I got used to it. I am a person who likes to have my cake and eat it too.”
And as if being a mother to Farah, 16, Dana, 15, Ameera, 12, Jawaher, eight, and Salma, three, wasn’t enough to keep her busy, the Abu Dhabi local owns and operates a chain of beauty lounges too.
“Bedashing Beauty Lounge has grown from a 538-square-foot branch with four employees in 2008, to seven branches with 250 staff members,” Noor says, adding that one of the benefits of her work is that her team takes good care of her beauty regime when she gets too busy to remember.
Of paramount importance to Noor is being a shining example not only to her daughters, but to women in the region. “Two years back, at my yearly staff party, I looked at the hundred-plus staff back then, and at my daughters, and noticed how much they look up to me. I realised I must do my utmost to be the best role model in all aspects, from career to style, personality, achievements and humanity.”
It was for this reason that Noor launched the franchise element to Bedashing Beauty Lounge. “The main purpose of the business is to spread confidence by making women feel good and look good. But I also want to help them be financially independent through our franchise programme,” Noor says, adding that the franchises are financed at zero interest to help would-be owners get on their feet sooner. “One of my proudest moments was when my first franchisee opened her doors and exceeded our and her expectations.”
Pointing out that she doesn’t have a style icon, preferring to create her own personal identity, Noor is definitely a leader in business, fashion and family – unique and inspiring in many different ways.
